a poem.

I wanted to tell you
how beautiful your smile was that night.
I wanted to tell you
how I enjoyed watching your body groove
as you danced and shook,
footloose in your ear
but me on your mind.
I wanted to tell you,
to gaze,
to touch.
Instead I laughed.
I laughed with you,
we laughed together,
and held sacred our space.
And that alone
will have to be the way
I tell you
all that was left unsaid,
like how beautiful your smile was that night.
